Made in Hong Kong from 2007 (bottom) to 2008 (top)

Orchid #03

Acrylic & Oil on Canvas, 76cmH x 76cmW

Painted for Ana & Jan.

This painting is the last painting I did in Hong Kong, the year 2008. Specially painted for my neighbour-friends in Mindoro, who have kindly helped us while "learning the ropes in Mindoro". They now exposed it in their Abra de Ilog restaurant (Click here)

"Coucou Martina"

Oil on Canvas, 76cmH x 76cmW

For MC.

A portrait interpretation artwork of my niece fondly nicknamed "MC". Based on a photo I took of her (click here)

"Orchid #01"

Acrylic on Canvas,  76cmH x 76cmW

For Anjanna.

Diversifying, above deco artwork is leaning towards a contemporary,  non-abstract style of painting

"Loui's  Kingdom"

For Jenny & Cedric.

Acrylic & Oil on Canvas,  100cmH x 80cmW

My good friends specially requested a painting for their much-awaited baby Loui's arrival. As the new parents' concept- a painting which would be colourful, naive, childish and educational as such as a kid's artwork, with a reference to the nationalities of both parents (French & Taiwanese).

" Respite "

For my parents-in-laws.

Mixed Media on Canvas,  36 cmH x 36 cmW.

My primary painting on textured application technique.

"Les Gardiens"

Oil on Canvas, 45 cmH x 35 cmW.

This painting entitled  "Les Gardiens"  (The Bodyguards)  unintentionally ended up as one of Alex's growing collections. Originally conceptualized as a gift for a  good friend's wedding who, I eventually discovered , was not keen to nudity paintings.  Alas, one's lost is one's gain!

Adding another butterfly on one of the "Les Papillons" series of 2,  giving more substance to the painting.

"Les Orchidees"  (The Orchids)

For Sandra.

Oil on Canvas, 45 cmH x 35 cmW.

_

"Les Papillons"  (The Butterflies)

For Krisel.

Oil on Canvas, 40 cmH x 32 cmW each panel size. Series of  2.

Oil on canvas. 61 cmH x 50 cmW

One night while Alex & I were waiting for friends for cocktails, a postcard (click here) of Suzie Wong show caught my eyes.  Transforming the image into the painting canvas of a young, dancing Chinese lady was thus created  -  marking a new chapter in our lives:  our comeback in dynamic Hong Kong (2007).

Oil on Canvas.  55 cmH x 46 cmW

With some modifications of my own, the above work was patterned from the original painting entitled "Village sur la cote" by Auguste Chabaud which he had painted after 1919.  A sombre landscape of  the beautiful la Provence, it is my goodbye souvenir painting. I have started working on it a few days before leaving the South of France in late November 2006. It was finally completed early 2007, some weeks later after I received it when the cargoes arrived in Hong Kong.
